DR. ARTHUR A. CUMMINS currently serves at the Director of Student Services for the Garden Grove Unified School District. In the past two years he has successfully implemented PBIS and Restorative Practice programming to reduce matters of suspension/expulsion and disproportionality. Formerly he served as Administrator of the Center for Healthy Kids & Schools within the Orange County Department of Education whereby he provided leadership for all matters of Student Services to include; violence prevention, ATOD, health and wellness, mental health, PBIS and nutrition services. He has been a classroom teacher and school site administrator in both middle and high school in the states Oklahoma, Texas, and California. Dr. Cummins serves as the Southern California Lead for the School and Law Enforcement Partnership, which facilitates collaborative relationships between law enforcement agencies and school district personnel. He also serves on the Executive Board for the California School Resource Officers Association. He holds multiple certifications in emergency management, is a consultant to the U.S. Department of Education on safe school practice, and is an approved trainer for the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation which provides psychological recovery services to school populations. He is proud to serve as the Chairman of the Board for the Joyful Child Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to prevent crimes against children. Dr. Cummins is the recipient of the Ambassador of Peace award offered by the Orange County Violence Prevention Coalition and most recently was recognized as the Distinguished Educator for Safe School Practice in the State of California.
