Edgar Montes currently serves as Director of the California Scale-Up MTSS Statewide (SUMS) Initiative within the Instructional Services division for the Orange County Department of Education. Along with providing guidance and support to county offices of education and districts statewide, Edgar also leads a group of talented and dynamic professionals who manage student support services, assessment and accountability, as well as event management and partnerships. Prior to coming to the Orange County Department of Education, Edgar served as Director within the State and District Partnership division of the College Board’s Western Regional Office supporting districts and states throughout the west. Edgar has also served as a high counselor and university admissions counselor in San Diego, CA. Edgar is currently pursuing his Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California and has obtained both his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Master of Arts in Counseling, with an emphasis in School Counseling from the University of San Diego.
