This training focuses on meeting the social-emotional and mental health needs of students by integrating community-based programs. Participants will understand why/how schools can support these needs and how such supports are most effective when provided as an integrated, systematized, continuum that partners with community agencies. Participants will hear about how the Anaheim Elementary School District partnered with Western Youth Services to create Behavior Support Teams at each of their 24 school sites and how they use a uniform Student Success Team process aligned with a problem-solving/MTSS approach in order to better understand and address the academic and social/emotional needs of students. This presentation will discuss the process from inception to current practice, including challenges and successes.
