Introduction to the SWIFT-FIA (Fidelity Integrity Assessment)
SWIFT Fidelity Integrity Assessment (SWIFT-FIA) is a self-assessment used by School Leadership Teams to examine the current status of schoolwide practices that have been demonstrated through research to provide a basis for successfully including all students who live in the school community. School-based teams can administer SWIFT-FIA through a structured conversation accompanied by a review of evidence to substantiate the ratings assigned. By assessing the extent of current implementation of SWIFT Core Features during the school year, teams can monitor their progress over time.  This session will provide an introduction to the SWIFT-FIA and how it is used by school teams to guide the implementation of MTSS.

Theory, Practices, and Innovations for Creating a High Quality Education for Boys and Young Men of Color
Years of data show that many students exit the US educational system unprepared for college and career.  In 2014, the White House launched “My Brother’s Keeper” (MBK), calling for the close of opportunity gaps faced by boys and young men of color.  Much work has been done, but there is still more to do.  This presentation will take a three pronged approach for creating high quality educational programs for boys and young men of color.  The presenter will 1) Establish theoretical base for increasing outcomes for students in need; 2) Share interventions currently being employed across California and the United States, and 3) Explore “outside-of-the-box” strategies. Using Student Data to Identify Skill-Specific Interventions
At Charlestown Primary School, a small rural school with 240 students in southwestern New Hampshire, we employ MTSS for academics using NWEA MAP data and a variety of informal assessments. Teachers and administrators collaboratively analyze assessment data and place students into skills-based groups designed to meet students’ individual needs. We have put structures into place to support this important work, such as making our schedule more efficient to allow blocks of time for small group instruction and carving out time for our teams to meet on a regular basis to evaluate data, discuss student growth, and make instructional adjustments. During this presentation and roundtable discussion, we will share our methods, structures, strategies, challenges, and goals. We hope for a mutually engaging and meaningful discussion!
