Angie Caster works at the University of Kansas as part of the federally funded SWIFT project. SWIFT is a national K-8 center that provides academic and behavior support to promote the learning and academic achievement of all students, including students with the most extensive needs. Prior to joining SWIFT, Angie worked as a school psychologist for the Shawnee Mission Public Schools in the Kansas City metro. For the last three years, she was the lead psychologist. As lead psychologist, Angie used her skills to lead discussions regarding core beliefs, facilitated professional development opportunities, communicated with leadership regarding needs of staff and school buildings. Angie has worked with children (and their families) in kindergarten through 12 over her career. She facilitated team meetings (intervention/MTSS teams, data analysis teams, IEP teams), she provided consultation services to staff and families, and she provided professional development. Angie also served as President for the Kansas Association of School Psychologists in 2004. As president, she had the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the state while planning for state-level professional development opportunities. Angie worked to bring innovative practices to the forefront for psychologists in Kansas. Additionally, while in this role, Angie collaborated with other state leaders at the National level to plan for organizational needs and promoting student success at all levels.
